> I am curious about some custom knife work. I have some really beautiful elk antler that I have wanted to turn into knife handles. I don't actually know if elk antler will work however. I have tried searching like for Japanese knives where I can buy the blade only, as I have a contact here in Colorado who puts knives together, although I don't like the blades he uses. So I am looking to either buy the blades I'd like and give my contact the antlers and blade, or I'd like to ship the antlers(say to you) and have you do it. So I guess what I'm asking is do you such work or sell just blades, or can you point me in the right direction. Thank you very much,

We tried this once before and I should have stuck with it. I'll start another section page where we will list all the knives that are awaiting handles so people that have similar interest and want to buy no handle blades can purchase them before we get around to installing our own handles. Here is the section and I'll start filling it out today.http://www.chefknivestogo.com/knwinoha.html
Also, I would love to see what you make afterwards. Please share a photo of your handle when it's complete.

I'm in Colorado near Denver. I have used elk several times and it's so so as a handle material. If doing a hidden tang you need to make sure to fill all gaps in the handle with epoxy. Elk is not on par with Sambar stag. It tends to crack pretty easily if you try to drill and bolt it. Lot's of pith.
