New sharpening set wanted.

Tue Aug 21, 2012 3:33 pm

I bought a knife from you recently and I need to get the sharpening stones and sink holder.
Can you recommend a good starter set and a sink holder that would fit those stones?
I looked at the Bester 5 piece set and Naniwa sink bridge on the site.
Do the Bester stones fit in the Naniawa?

Hi Peter,

The bester 5 pc set is ideal for a starting set of stones. Each stone is good and the loupe and deburring block are very helpful when you sharpen too.

The naniwa sink bridge is what I use at home to sharpen and yes the stones will all fit on the sink bridge.

Yeah, go with that set and then get something like a 8-10K stone to really polish the edges or a Natural finishing stone for some polish and more bite to the edge, or a strop/compound. The Rika 5K leave a nice, bitey edge, but sometimes I want a bit more refinement.
