The Meara is a strange stone. It's very very hard, but leaves a refined but toothy edge. I've tried using slurry stones on it, but I kind of like working the stone to get the slurry, seems to work quicker that way and give a slightly more refined edge? I haven't tried it for Kasumi finishes yet though. Plus it's wide, so that's another nice thing about the stone!! Especially for the longer blades!

From a natural perspective I have the Ken guided lineup of a Tajima, Meara, and Yaginoshima. Then I splurged on a Nakayama Asagi!
I have to say that the toothiness I get from my naturals is really something! I have been using them exclusively after my 1K Ume and I can say that I really, really like using them. There is something about the smell and the fact that they came out of the ground half way around the world that just changes the experience.
