Nakayama Koppa

Fri Jul 06, 2012 4:57 pm

Alright, I'm looking to pick up a couple of stones for razor sharpening, what approximate grit would you say this is? I need a pre finish stone (8kish) and a final finish stone (15-16k). Anyone have any idea? I assume this came from Ken?

Not sure if that one came from Ken, but considering it doesn't have a stamp on top, I doubt it.

If anything, learning to hone a razor on synthetics is easier imo because it's easier to get consistant results.
For a natural finisher I use a Nakayama Nasiji, for a prepolisher, I've used the Yaganoshima Asagi to good results, but lately I just use Shaptons up to 15k, then go to the Nasiji if I feel like it.

Thanks Michiel, I plan on getting 8k snow white and 15k shap pro for my razor. For the price figured I might just pick up that nat for fun.

It could be suitable, don't know. Ken Would probably know. i'm very happy with my Nakayama Nasiji FWIW.

They're very fine. I got this from Takeda and he only has a couple left. My wild guess is 20K.
