We have a massive amount of Edge Pro products so we figured it would be good to have a whole section on how to use the machine and what to use on it.

My adventures with a Wicked Edge

Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:00 pm

I've used this machine last year but only a few times to get a general feel for the unit. Now, I'm going to break out another one and start really trying to figure it out and get good at it.

It should be fun. Clay has been making improvements on the machine and we're going to be selling some new accessories for it so hopefully I'll work those into the mix and maybe do some how to videos once I get good at it.

I also invited Clay over to help explain things about the machine so I hope he comes over and bales me out once in a while. :)

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the invitation and for setting up the forum. I'll visit as often as possible to answer questions and chat about the sharpener. Hopefully Ken Schwartz and Tom Blodgett will jump on as well, the're both pros with the Wicked Edge.

Your video on youtube really helps understand what the wicked edge is. before watching it I did not know what it was. It actually looks really cool.

Great to have you here Clay!

It's one of the best devices ever made. I gave mine away to a friend well over a year ago and really need to pick up a new one :D

mrsupport - Congratulations. Please let me know if I can every be of any help with technical questions. One thing to keep in mind is that your stones will need some time to break in - they're much coarser out of the box than they will become with use. It's a good idea to get practiced with some less favorite knives and let the stones break in. The more you use them, the sweeter they get.

Clay - What a treat to see you here!

After spending time with Clay - never enough at Blade - and seeing the new improvements on the Wicked Edge, which are absolute genius, BTW, this is one exciting device!

There's lots to talk about the Wicked Edge and having a subforum for this is just great!

I'll try to contribute whatever way I can to support the Wicked Edge here and elsewhere.

We're working hard on our knife database: http://www.wickededgeusa.com/index.php?option=com_joodb&view=catalog&Itemid=94 and would love any and all contributions. The idea is to compile a large database of knives, their specs and their sharpening settings on the Wicked Edge. While the alignment settings will apply only to Wicked Edge users, the rest of the data should be very helpful to any knife owner as it will offer experience based sharpening tips like angle and finish level. If you haven't seen the new database, please come over and check it out and add your knives.
