Another good review Shaun, really like getting to see these knives in action! Makes making a purchase a little easier.
Would love to get a quick look at some of the more popular petties sometime. Maybe you could put together a short video showing 3 or 4 of them.
And don't forget the girls in bikinis next time!

I'll send out some pettys to Shaun. We have been concentrating on gyutos and nakiris mostly but we need to branch out and do pettys and sujis.

I got to check out Bikeman's Murata Funayuki and 210mm gyuto. Wicked thin behind the edge with both! Kasumi was one of the nicer done finishes and looks to be stone done instead of bead blasted and the Kurouchi finish was nicely done and covered in lacquer, too, which gives it a nice glossy look and feel. The 210mm gyuto had a hollow forged in between the blade road and spine and felt nice in the hand. Handles are nice being lacquered, so the wood is protected/sealed fully. One of the better looking Kurouchi finished knives out there and great grinds! Shaun mentioned that they didn't wedge like some other KU knives do and I can see why from the grinds!

Question: Any difference in the blade portion in the western vs wa handled Murata knives? Quite a difference in price there.
I've been loving my Murata Funayuki so far. I haven't had enough time with it yet but so far so good. I've had a Murata Nakiri in my cart for a while now and this video might have been enough to get me to just go ahead and order it soon.
