Tube Laminates, going to send these out to a buddy to turn them on a lathe and see how that goes. I don't have enough control/good tools to try on my wood lathe. I know this stuff is fairly difficult to sand, let alone turn! The PVC makes a nice mold; I just slice the tube and peel away. I want to get more pressure on it to reduce the air bubbles, but the press I have only has so much clearance, so the bottom half is packed nice, but the top half just has clamp pressure on it.
Red/White/Blue camo! Hoping to make a handle from this block tomorrow after it finishes curing fully.
Yeah, I decided to go ahead and play with this stuff. Some haven't turned out like I wanted them to, but many of them are pretty sweet! Got the camo's figured out now and with the shop press, it is so much easier. I feel sorry for the guy who is going to turn the tubes; they are 2" diameter and this is some tough material!!! I have some smaller tubes so I can make smaller pieces, like 1.5" diameter and like 2 or 3" long that can be used for ferrules
