Hi folks. I'm wondering how well the Shapton Glass and Pro stones work together. I have 1k and 4k glass, and I'd like to add a 2k to that progression. I'm thinking of trying a Pro stone in that spot. What do you folks think? Try the Pro or stick to all-Glass?

It won't matter that much. My preference with the glass stones is to stick with them in series but if you're curious about the 2k pro it will work fine. Just make sure you adjust for the height difference.

The Pro 2k will work just fine with the Glass Stones and it is a good stone, I think you'll like it.

I agree with Jeff. I actually think the Shapton Pro 2k is one of the best stones in that grit range around. I love mine, it stands on it's own for sure.

I like tye 2k Pro. So much tyat ive never felt tye need to try the GS stones. If im finishing a knife thats set to be an abuser i use the 2k and then once i have a 2k edge i add a drop of 3k BC. Just a little bit finer but all the durability of a 2k pro edge.

What micron size of Boron Carbide gives you 3k? And do you use it on the 2k stone or on a strop? I like the idea - I have the 4k GS but it's a bit of overkill on a Victoronox beater knife like I see all the time.

For Shapton stones 3K is 5u.

Nice. I hadn't seen the 3k BC. Sigh, just more of Ken's stuff to covet.

The Boron Carbide is really cheap , but its not up on CKTG yet so you have to contact Ken directly.
He has it in 3k , 5k and 8k.
