Whats the cutting edge and side material on this series? Is it vg10?
Still can decide which line yet, between Masamoto VG Series and Tojiro DP Series. I mean the price is different, but I just want to buy the right one. In the long run, the difference of the price doesn't meant too much.

I've used both a bunch. I like the grinds on the Masamoto better. I like their handles better and I like the shape of the gyutos a tiny bit more. But it's a lot more for a very similar knife.
Masamoto does not say what steel they're using but the name VG strongly implies it's one of the VG knife steels. My guess is VG10.
If money is not a huge deal go with the Masamoto. For most people looking for the best bang for the buck get the Tojiro DP.

I thought we heard a while back that it wasn't VG10 and that it was VG1?!?!
Either way, the Masamoto is solid metal and the Tojiro is clad. Some prefer one over the other, so just stating a fact not making an argument which is better.
I do like the Masamoto better as a knife though. Like Mark says, hard to justify the cost though.
