Don't waste your money on the clones, once you have the reel thing nothing else compares.

I was thinking this myself, but I love the profile and was intrigued by some of the clones.

Also thought about a Konosuke HD2 as well or if the Sukenari's wind up available in a KS like profile in Ginsan.

For Christmas I'm shooting for a Shigefusa 180mm Kasumi Wa Gyuto or a Murray Carter 170-180mm Funayuki.

Looks good Dave! Slice some raw or very rare meats and let the blood sit for a few minutes, that will really bring out some colors! How you liking the knife?

I love it man. Love the flat profile, it gets scary sharp and easy to make it so, solid edge retention, relatively light but still feels substantial, love the KS.

I could see myself liking this knife as well. The handle does seem cheap tho, for $400(shipped). I don't mind the D, I'd just want it in a better material, and a better ferrule. The blade looks killer.

Desol :I have the Masamoto KS with a blond buffalo ferrule Ho wood D shaped handle and it is a good looking well fitted handle. Not cheap at all! The blade is a classic and worth the $s . BB

I've definitely seen worse handles on more expensive knives. The handle on my KS isn't that bad.
