I need a new knife.....something to wow me......

I'm thinking 210mm/240mm laser wa-gyuto with this.....

BOHLER K390 MICROCLEAN
Third Generation powder metal tool steel designed as an upgrade over A11. Vanadium reduced to 9% but Tungsten and Cobalt added. Edge retention comparable to A11, but greatly improved toughness. Harden and temper to 64-65 HRC. The best overall tool steel performance for knife blades.

Please.....

This one might get a solid carbon fibre wa handle throughout with tripple gold spacers at the ferrule split.

Come on people - signup here to make it a viable project......?????

How does the K390 compared to M390? I think Randy Haas may have used it a few times?

K390 is far superior to M390 in every way - the dream steel for a kitchen unit....

Hi Rookie,

I'll look into doing it. Seriously....

As you know this stuff is challenging but I'll try to make it happen.

How is K390 to sharpen compared to M390?

K390 is to M390 what S110V is to S90V.

The Shaptons series does fine - just takes somewhat longer - the Choseras work very slow - the Sigmas Select II work well - Jnats very, very slow - recommended to use diamonds first, then refine with stones.

The hardest blade I sharpened was a Farid CPM-121 steel, using Sigmas Select II (these stones are exceptionally great, with little recognition bestowed upon it) - it performed fine (that was before I had the Shapton GS stones).

Request please:

.......consider a perfectly 3/4 flat blade edge length if possible........

Thank you for your attention - maybe a poll in this regard....?????

You are braver than I.

All sorts of profanity would be spilling out if I didn't have my diamonds with those high wear steels.

Nice edge on that Farid
