>> Mappin & Webb <<

Ironically, I just landed a new catch like Magnus, but I don't know much about their history.

Mappin & Webb 6/8 w/natural scales in the mail yesterday for $54 shipped... what do you think? It's in pretty nice shape overall really, and it came with the case. It has to be honed, but it doesn't feel too bad at all. You have any experience with them?

That looks really good. Never had one in for testing or honing. Is it half hollow?

Congrats!

CHRIS <> I have 5 SR: Yellow #3 Kanenaga Kamisori, Heljestrand full hollow, Thomas Turner full wedge & I just picked up the 2 Sheffields at really good prices: $125 total for the Frederick Reynolds & Mappin/Webb. I have to hone them whenever I get some free time, & try these bad boys out. The Mappin & Webb I may have to sell off as my face doesnt take to extra-hollows too well though I'm still awaiting a verdict on that one.

MAGNUS <> Yessur, they are! :P

Sounds like a sweet collection!! How is the kamisori? I am just getting started in this SR game and find the kamisoris to be very interesting. Not ballsy enough to try one yet as I still have crappy technique  I really like the point on that Mappin and Webb, too :)

MAGNUS <> I communicated with the seller on the scales, and he said, "they are natural, but not bone."

What could that natural material be?

Well he says that becouse its not legal to sell ivory so he says natural material to cover it up pretty much. ivory is not bone its elephant tusk.
