Low grit stone.

Hi mark:

I am a customer of yours and need to ask you for a recommendation on a lower grit sharpening stone.

I purchased from you the chorsara stones, 1000,3000,5000 and 10000. They work wonderfull.

I then got lazy and started to use the shapton glass 1000,4000,8000, 16000.

Im, looking for a lower grit stone to start with instead of the 1000. It really takes a beating when i

Try to do something like flatten chisel backs. At this point I don’t really care if it is a soaker or not.

I saw your video on the beston 500 and I think 250. You seemed to like that stone very much.

Alos the nubatama 320 (seems like a lot of stone for the money), chosera 400, And imanishi 400.

I use my stones not just for knives but also chisels and plane blades.

Can you recommend?

Thanks John

Hi John,

There are several that I like a lot.

The Beston is a good one.

Also the Chosera 400 I like quite a bit.

If you want something more aggressive I've been using the Nubatama 150 bamboo series and I like that one a bunch. It's big, doesn't dish very fast and cuts great. Leaves a better finish than diamond plates.
