A Moritaka will be great -- nice knives.

The Tanaka linked above has the profile I really prefer in a petty. Deep enough to take on a lot more chopping tasks, a little belly to rock chop and trim meats, but not too much. Just right.

Now if only Konosuke would somehow make one like that. I wonder who we could ask about such a thing...?

Thanks for all the input, I finally caved in on the Moritaka. I know that it would make a petty more versatile if it had a hair more belly but then isn't that what a gyuto is for. Eventually I might replace that as well, since its my most used type of knife (It's shun classic, gift from parents actually).

Sorry, busy at work but here is my new petty, I was able to used it a lot. Funny thing, I was telling myself why haven't I got a petty sooner. :lol:

I really like the Moritaka petty Mark recommended. great knife.
