Looking for a good cleaver

Fri Jul 05, 2013 3:04 pm

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply.

I am looking for a cleaver, along the lines the of Konosuke style of my current knife, ie. very well made but simple and functional. Do you have anything like that in stock?

Regards,

graham

Hi Graham,

If you want a stainless cleaver try the Sugimoto. I like it:

Or try mine. It came our really well:

I've actually used one of these and although I'm not a cleaver fan, this was a freaking fantastic knife:

I am a real cleaver fan. I used a CCK for awile and it was a great starter cleaver it is thin and light like your konosuke, but cheap so you can try it out and if using a cleaver not your thang you will not lose alot of money if you don't like it. the Fanatic is my go to, but I got the original with a belly which I prefer, but most people don't and the new fanatics have a flatter profile.I personally like have a non reactive blade too, but again that is a personal thing. Start out with the CCK you won't regreat it. Using a chinese cleaver for my prep work has made my life so much easier and you will feel a little bADASS 8-)

Oh and also with CCK if you decide to get it you will need to round out around the coil because the edges are sharp I had a friend use a dremel on it and it smooth it out nicely but use couldpobably get away with some sand paper

Thanks guys,

I'll certainly look over these knives carefully. I do have cleaver experience, but not with anything noteworthy.

The Richmond is the one catching my eye atm, but I'll sleep on it a little bit.
