Kramer knives $500/inch!?

Tue Apr 01, 2014 8:09 pm

Saw an article pop up in my news feed this morning about Kramer knives, http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-03-2 ... -keen.html

Apparently, they are moving their custom orders to a lottery system... Business must be good. I had only heard of them before. Found the gallery today and was amazed, http://kramerknives.com/auctions/gallery/ and http://kramerknives.com/gallery/

Anyone have one? or know someone that does :) ? Are they really $500 an inch?

If you can find one for $500 an inch, buy it!

The last one sold at auction went for $3100 an inch.

Why so expensive? It's simply supply and demand.

Are they good knives? Yes.

If you want a very close mass-produced version, buy a Kramer by Zwilling. The profile is identical, only the geometry is different.

Adam, sounds like you might have a down payment for a new car laying around.

I am on their email list. The recent auction started a few days ago and opening bid was above 12k for chefs knife. That isn't a typo.

It was the first auction in over 3 months.

They do lottery system for custom work. Partly random, partly time in system.

Damn, that is pretty impressive.

Sounds like you got a good deal for yours Adam!

I'm afraid to even put my email on that list haha. I think there is a fee for not going though once you put your email on the list..

You gotta sign up as a member. To do so, you have to use your credit card. They charge $1-$2 to verify your identity, but never collect the funds - in other words they authorize for $1-$2, but never send the charge through. Other than that, no charges unless you bid on a knife.

He's got some nice sharpening supplies - stones, strops, rods, etc. The prices are generally good, but not as good as CKTG. For me, the cite reduces to eye candy.

There is an original Kramer for sale right now on Ebay

The current bid is $177 an inch!
Lets see if this one hits $300 an inch.
That is IMHO absolutely outrageous.

Looks like it's going to shoot right past $300/inch. Pretty knife. I hope that for $3000 it will cut the onions for you.
