Knives for lefties.

Fri Jul 27, 2012 7:43 pm

Hi I browse your site often while saving money for a knife and I saw the Tojiro ITK Kiritsuke Gyuto 240mm but most of the knives on the site don't state whether there is an option for left handed users.

Other than the Moritaka brand knives what other good options do I have for a full size knife?

Hi John,

Do you mind if I post this on our forum?

The Tojiro ITK Kiritsuke has a equal grind on each side. The handle is D shaped but lots of lefties don't mind this and if you do mind it you can easily sand it into an oval shape. It should work fine for you.

Other knives that are fine for lefties off the top of my head.

Takeda
Hiromoto
Maruyoshi
Global
Wusthof
Henckels
Shun Premier
Shun Reserve
Tojiro DP
Takayuki Grand Cheff
Takayuki Hammered Damascus
Konosuke
Kaneshige
Tamahagane
Kikuichi TKC
Dojo
Tanaka gyutos and nakiris
Tanaka Ironwood
F Dick

thanks for listing them down for us lefties. the important japanese style knives that i would love for lefties would be a hankotsu, western deba and a honesuki. a 50/50 grind would be great, at the very least.
