I've watched several videos on this site and they are helpful. Watching ones that teach me something new get watched more than once.

BTW, the money I've spent on the CKTG site... I want it back. If you thought your joke was funny, you're probably laughing your a** off right now. :)

I've spent about $300 to sharpen $15 to $30 dollar knives. How smart is that!

One lesson people should learn is if you can't sharpen you might as well have $30 knives because the best dull knife is still a dull knife.

Here's a review that might help some of you new sharpeners.

I used shapton pro stones on this vides, 320, 1K and 5K. I also used the boxes for the sharpening holders and I used a few accessories like the slurry stone and the deburing block.

Oh boy, new stones, very dull knives....

You can try to sharpen that $20 cusinart santoku you bought at walmart all you want, but it most likely will take a large amount of time and effort. IMO it's just not really worth it to dish a stone that much on an inexpensive knife.

On the other hand if you are one of the many on this site that have a collection of fine japanese knives then by all means go ahead, but I suggest sharpening a "beater" first, just something to practice on before you tackle the real deal.
