Has anyone experience with his diamond plates for the EP? They appeal to me a little over stones because they should be lower maintenance.

They are supposed to be similar to the EP polishing tapes but slightly more durable. IE , they will wear out faster than say a set of shaptons or even choseras.

Ill find out when I get my most recent order from ken.

Pretty sure he is talking about Atomas..not even close to EP tapes. EP tapes fill up on 3 knives.

Sadden,

I have used the diamond films quite a lot. Have had some good, some bad experience with them.

+1

The finer grits are not nearly enough durable - they actually lasts less than the stock EP mylar tapes.

I will not go there again.

:)

I got all HD films. Except the .1 micron. which there is no HD version for. They will only be used on ceramic knives.

I've been very happy with Atoma plates as well as various DMT plates. The diamond film I tried arrived curled and not attached to the plate. Tried to re attach it once or twice and gave up. Used the blank for something else. You get what you pay for. The low grit plates work fast but leave serious scratches . Be prepared to work them with another comlentary low grit stone or progressive diamond plate.
