John and I were going to do a juice grove on all the boards since most of his customers choose this feature. However, he gave me some troubling stats on the orders he's recieved that all of you guys are choosing a flat board with no groove. So let me know what you prefer? Our original idea was to do juice groove on one side and include rubber feet uninstalled. That way you can use both sides of the board or use feet with a smooth surface or the juice groove.
Should we just do the flat board or do it as planned?

I got my board with a groove because I hate cleaning up the counter!! I like the idea of the grooved board with feet included, but uninstalled. That way you could use it as a two sided board, or make it with the groove or no groove. It leave the customer the options!

I don't like em. They get in the way of scooping off the edge, reduce usable board space, and I don't need them. I have yet to stick a pig or bleed a chicken on my cutting board, and if I was producing that much liquid off a piece of produce, I'd sharpen my knives.
I do use a medium sized board, so that might have something to do with it. But I vote no. The optional groove thing has a strange IKEA feel to it, but hey people love IKEA.

No. They get in the way of doing actual work on the board, as Eamon said. If I'm doing something extra juicy I use a side towel.

Grooves are for those folks who intend to use the cutting board for slicing and serving cooked roasts, steaks, and poultry, or in other words mostly for show. The grooves are not very useful, IMHO, if the board is going to be used for food preparation.
I ordered my Board Smith board without the groves. While the grooves might be handy to catch juices now and then, the fact is that I don't cut raw meats on it, when I cut juicy cooked meats or poultry I use a smaller board (also no groves), and as others have pointed out the groves significantly reduce the board's useable surface area and make it more difficult to scrape cut-up items into bowls.

Personally, I don't care for them as they take away from the overall useful cutting surface.

well you can always flip 'em around if you don't wanna use the side with the juice groove.

I think the best option is not a part of this pole. I think a flat board is best, juice groove has a very limited use and more times than not it is a negative. However, rubber feet on the board is a good idea. This is how the boardsmith does all of his boards, flat + feet. Just my opinion, maybe do half and half, feet or not.
