I got a 2nd of this blade, unhandled from Mark and did some fixes to the blade where it had some issues. I discuss what I did w/some background on what I've learned here to get this done correctly.

Hey Steve, I have the same knife that was also a second due to the cladding void only. The void is very slight and only cosmetic. It is a lighter great performing laser like version of the Masamoto KS. Good job in showing how you made the minor repair modifications to make your Ikeda a high performance cutter. Bill B

Bikeman, thanks. How tall is yours at the heel? I need to start using mine more and get a more in depth feel for the knife. It's got a nice slender, light feel to it. Very cool blade.

The blade ht on my sample is taller, just shy of 47 mm. I used the knife 2 night to prep onions, mushrooms , garlic and asparagus , the tip is wicked thin. It is like getting two blades in one knife. The back end is a stiff gyuto and the tip is like a petty/slicer. Very nice distal taper! Great job on your "Quick Look Reviews ", I look forward to your videos! Bill B
