I love my Germans; they are all I use at home. I always have some surplus JK's stashed at my house that I can pull if need be, but the real truth is German steel does w/o question get very sharp... especially once thinned. Furthermore, I sharpen knives enough that their retention is not so much of an issue for me.

Of the German knives from a sharpening perspective I like the Messermeister knives best. Followed closely by the Wusthof. I've never seen an F.Dick up close and personal.
