Just wondering if this is a chicken or egg thing. Did razors get you into knives, or knives into razors? Since getting into knives i have become increasingly interested in razors (yet to take the plunge)

well...since I am in the restaurant industry, knives definitely came first. For many years I have always wanted to try a strait. Now that I have some stone inventory and sharpening experience I feel I am ready for a strait!

I've got a few more, but they didn't need honing.
I tend to use a different razor every day, so they stay in top shape for a long time. I hone daily though, just not my own razors.

I too got the bug, but a lot to learn! I had a razor sent to me to try it out, I love it! But here is my dilemma. I have a heavy beard and I find the razor tugs or pulls a lot. I need to get it sharpened by someone who knows what they are doing, or have someone post a video of proper technique so I can wreck a cheaper on before I try to sharpen this one http://www.fendrihan.com/thiers-issard- ... -1470.html
I hate rabbit holes! Eventually I'm going to make some, but first I need to learn what makes them tick.

For me knives drew me in. Was shaving with a paring knife then bought a straight razor. Better suited for the task.

A grown man should not shave with a plastic toy...
Straight razors takes sharpning & knife-nerdness to a whole new level.
Suddenly it's not only sharp enough to push-cut hair, it's also the fact that you are gonna put it on your own face.
Kinda motivates you do make it smooth to
