Comparing Cutco to Boze is an insult to Boze. And I agree with people's opinion re Boze. Every proud Cutco owner I run into was sold a set by a relative who later quit. I'm amused when people refer to their Cutco knives with a level of reverence that we 'in the know' might reserve for Kramers, Carters, Devin Thomas (and Nubatama :) ) and other high end knifemakers on CKTG.

I really can't say I'm a Shun hater. Shun's are a gateway drug to Japanese knives. They are designed quite well for the American market. Globals - not a knife that suits my tastes at all.

Audio - yea I used to be an audio nut too years ago, when Carver and Phase linear meant more to me than Hattori Takeda and Moritaka. I have a friend who's a tube amp nut with an entire 2 car garage full of them and an office so full of them that it's hard to spot him in his own office :) I even sold him an old Tektronix oscilloscope so he could salvage the tubes out of it. I did do a fair amount of analog and digital signal processing years ago, but that was back when you wrote your own FFTs and digital filtration algorithms and wire wrapped your own boards.

That would be alcoholics and idiots you are thinking of. Nothing to do with ethnicity. ;)

Ken you are a true renaissance man! I, too, have a sordid history with the Cooley-Tukey algorithm.

Global and Shun are both good analogs for Bose. All are over-hyped; decent quality, compared to what used to be; widely available; and low value compared to the more esoteric competition.

Any of you stereophiles old enough to remember Pure Logic? That was me. :D

Yes, I remember Pure Logic. I was a Mitch Cotter man, myself. Who but an insane audiophile spends 4K on a preamp? And be careful what you say: the Bose police are about, ready to sue.
