Wish I had a before & after as I set a scratch pattern on the face, and then I polished the blade road while sharpening this monster.

Thanks, ROOK. I was just outta time to go any further. I had done like 5 knives, and it was like 03:30. I spoke with the Marine tonight, and asked him if he'd let me spend more time on it. He looked at me like, "you think I'm gonna say no.?!"
I'll work on it my next time on the stones, and improve upon its current state. He's happy as a pig in Shiite, already. Really, blew him away, and that makes it all worth it for me.

I got to rehandle one of my friends old Kukhri (pretty much the same thing) and sharpen it back up. The blade was just a little rusty, no chips or anything, but it took a really nice edge and the blade was incredibly powerful in cutting motions. The weight forward and the drop down make it an awesome chopper!
I really like the sheath on that and that it's a bit narrower than the one I did for my friend! Bevel looks nice, too, and those aren't easy with the curve!

I hope to have the skill some day to even attempt to work on something like that! After I get a little better I need to start offering to sharpen knives for friends and family to gain more experience. You guys have shown me how deep sharpening skills really go. It's so much more than just being able to put an edge on an everyday kitchen knife!

how exactly do you go about sharpening that concave curvature? did you use the corner of a stone and just carefully work it?

I usually convex those. But I mostly see the cheap Cold Steel Gurkhas.
