Hi.....

I'm a returning customer.
Want to buy a Japanese Santoku for a wedding gift - about $100.
I'm considering the Takai Sakayu, but I've read that the fit and finish is not great on this knife.
How do you feel it compares to the Tojiro?
Any other recommendations in that general price range?

I've forgotten, do you collect sales tax for shipments to New York?

Thanks
Austin

This Tojiro is a good one in the sub $100 range. It's stainless so it will make a good gift too.

Another stainless option is the Masamoto VG <link>.

In a carbon core blade, you might consider the Aogami Super Hiromoto <link>. Although as a gift, a carbon core is only for someone aware, willing, and able...

This one?

If so, the F&F is okay. Tojiro will usually be about the same F&F wise....I've seen a limited number of both though.

Between the two I'd have to pick the Tojiro.

Otherwise, yeah, what Mel mentioned about the Hiromoto santoku would be good to look at as well.
