Getting a burr up the whole blade

Tue Dec 25, 2012 3:34 am

I am using the Edge Pro at the moment and am noticing that I am mostly getting a burr in the middle.

Is this because...

a) I am overlapping in the middle...ie when I do the lower edge I cover part of the middle...then when I end at the upper edge, I overlap the middle as well - so the middle is getting the most attention?

b) The knife is generally duller at the tip and base?

c) Something else?

Trying to learn!

Thanks

Consider a) as being the culprit.

Ben Dale mentions the portion in front of the heel - towards the middle of the knife which will "wear" quicker during sharpening and eventually become "hollow" - beware of this!

Over time I have trained myself to automatically use somewhat lighter strokes on this section - it becomes second nature eventually..

:)

Yeah, most likely "a" is the answer. It get the most attention.
