I had my first New Years off... Ever...Since I've started working.
My wife somehow secretly organised New Year's Eve and day off without me finding out. Organised a baby sitter for the kids and drove me to an undisclosed mystery destination. Had an amazing night catching up with good friends and ended up seeing my favourite musician... In the front row. Beat the hell out of working. Was a nice trip to the real world ... If only for two days.

Lame is no fun, so I've got to go with the best here. I was barely 18, and decided to ring in the new millennium by taking off on my first solo trip away from home. Flew to Detroit, and had a blast seeing Metallica and Ted Nugent while the rest of the world was waiting for the Y2K bug to wipe us all out.

Best thing I ever did for the New Year changed my life. I received a random call from an ex-girlfriend and decided to fly across the country to visit and ring in the new year with her. We are now married and I count myself the luckiest man in the world!! BEST NEW YEAR EVER :!: :!:

@chefbartley: I do hope you have seen a full recovery and are enjoying good health today.

A happy and prosperous 2014 to all!

Lamest was probably this year, went to a friends where half the people decided to show up and and other friends cancel ahead of going there with me. With them not showing I was about the only one to drink anything which doesn't make a party. On top of all that the lack of people meant having to deal more with a friends annoying gf. Next year I think I will choose work.

One of the best New Year's I've had was the first year I spent with my wife. A nice night in NYC with friends and dancing. Simple, but couldn't ask for any better way to start a new year.

A not so great new years eve: This truck driver had a tractor breakdown at 9pm, sat on the side of the road for two hours in single digit temperature, and then I broken my foot when cargo fell of a pallet 20min before midnight. Finished the shift, and sat in the ER most of new years day. Let the good times role- Happy 2014 y'all!
