So with the help of Taz and Adam I finished my first handle. I learned alot by doing this one and hope to buy more knives to rehandle!
I had a beat up Tojiro 120 petty with the ferule falling off that I decided to attempt this. If everything failed, it's still only $35 to replace. There are some issues but I'm happy on how the first one came out.

Very nice handle!

Your board could use a good oiling, though ;)

Thanks guys. Mark - as I was oiling the handle (you can see the drip marks of the oil on the board) I was saying to myself I need to oil my board... but the knife comes first!

Here's a question for the handle guys: Do you guys tape the handle when doing the ends to make nice tapers? Does that work or just pencil lines and a steady free-hand job?

Tape the ends? Are you asking about the chamfered ends? If so, I hold the handle at a 45degree angle loosely in my left hand and at the sander turn the handle with my right. Let me know if you want pics. PM me your email if you want.

I round the ends on the belt sander or by hand, depending on if I want to use the belt sander or not. Only takes a few minutes by hand usually.

Looks great!!
