Hey Shaun, Pulled out the ol' 230 tonight to prep super. It really is a great all around knife that can do anything. I prepped a chicken for the rotisserie, chopped some broccoli, onions, mushrooms and then cut the chicken up after it came off the rotisserie and it never missed a beat. A great feeling knife with a nice grind and holds it's edge very well! Love it!

Very cool, thanks Jeff. I hoped the knife would perform well at a lot of tasks for a lot of different people. Here's a handle that's going out for sale: Tasmanian Sassafras and hand-peened 1/4" brass.

A pile of Fernandez 230's in 52100 are on the way.
There's a couple of straggler S35VN blades left, kind of holding off on those for a minute while I pursue other projects for a minute. I like to do them in large batches, so basically I'm just waiting on a little batch of wood to get in as well. In the mean time, I had a little fun lately fooling with a hunting knife made of 1095. Tempered down to 60+ Rockwell (estimated, it's a very hard knife) and detempered the spine as well for more toughness. I've chopped though branches (ash and maple) and pine boards, nothing hurts this knife yet. Well, nothing made of wood anyhow! I'm actually going to make a small run of these (with slightly bigger blades) probably out of s35 or cpm154... something powdered and stainless that's tough as nails. The strong grind on this knife will still cut through paper but it will also taking a full force smashing into a branch like it was nothing.
The combination of me running a lot lately through wooded trails and requests from friends to do a hunting knife have lead me to play around with this a bit. Nice change of pace to be honest, sometimes a break from the same thing is good. Anyhow, I can't wait until the 52100 gets here, it's going to be a good holiday season.

Looking forward to seeing these 52100's! Enjoy that change of pace, like that hunting blade.

Thanks Jeff. Just finished the handle last night. I'm sending this one out for testing to a veteran who's going on a hunting trip shortly. I told him to beat it up and tell me what he thinks.
And back to kitchen knives after this.

Just because I'm sitting up late, drunk for no real reason, I want to say that the last few knives Mark has put up for you are real nice! "BUT" they're not as nice as mine! That was one cool handle you did for me and she gets regular use. Love my Fenandez 230! That S35VN really is a great stainless. I have been wanting to try 52100 so when you get started on those be very public about it, I want one!
Happy New Year Dude!
