DESOL <> The HD's are still hand made knives, just as Takedas are. I have had two of the exact same knives, Konosuke 240HD2 Funayukis, that were both different in length, height & profile...

One is a rustic carbon.
One is a finished "stainless."

Both do "have excellent merits," but opposite ends of a spectrum.

JEFF <> A used knife is not returnable, but you are more than welcome to return a knife that you are unhappy with in hand. Or at least, that is what I've been told...

Furthermore, those 2 knives do not come in sealed boxes, leaving that argument moot.

I appreciate your candor & your protectiveness. As the individual whom started the Classified section on this forum, I agree & have strongly promoted trades/sales in the ultimate goal of furthering new knife sales @CKTG. From Mark, I have purchased 16 Jknives, an 8 pc German set, 9 stones, a mess of ancillary items (i.e., strops, pastes, scopes, etc.), I have recommended scores to the site, I just closed a deal on a Kyocera Kyotop set for them, and I dedicate copious amounts of time promoting here. I can assure you - I'm the last one taking advantage or suggesting someone does.

In fact, the reality is - there's a 50/50 chance the individual even returns it... potentially furthering sales.

Melampus --> After going back and reading your post again I did misunderstand your meaning and apologize. I have never doubted your support of Mark and this site. As far as my "opened box" statement I was just making a reference to a used item.
I realize you are one of the more knowledgeable people here and applaud you giving your time to helping others.

I have the Takeda 270 mm and I love it. The look and feel always get me many oohs and ahhs in the kitchen and it is a work horse. It can take a beating and keep on ticking. It takes a screaming edge as well. The character behind the Takeda and that it is handmade just feels right to me. I love the height... just be prepared to have to purchase a custom saya for it because its height is taller than traditional gyuto's (which you already knew).

I haven't used the Addict yet so I can't comment on the differences except on patina formation. I personally like patina's so if all things were equal, I would choose the Takeda for appearance purposes.
