Also here is something I've been messing around with for fun. I've been learning Solidworks in school, so I thought I'd try to model a knife.
Yes, I do think about all of the little details in there as I make the knife.

Don , have you messed around with the assemblies mode at all? I am finding the edges can be tough to get right. Usually I have been using a series of 3 arcs to get a good gyuto edge.
Helpful hint If you dont do this already:
Tools>sketch tools>sketch picture> insert a drawing and size it into a dimensioned box to get the right scale. Now you can match your lines to your freehand sketches or even a real picture.

Tim I haven't actually played around to get a bevel/edge yet. I think if I tried to I'd probably do an extruded cut for the distal taper and then swept cut for the bevels, but my actual bevels in real life change angles going from heel to tip, so I think I am SOL
I'm not too worried about getting any cutting geometries in there though; I was messing around for whenever I start to get some blanks waterjetted
The sketch picture sounds really neat.

That's real nice looking. I wonder how the reverse of those 2 colors would look. I bet it be amazing too.
