My wife is terrible at keeping secrets.
I found out that my wife and my mother went halvsies on the new Taiyo as a graduation gift for my graduation from culinary school. (I'm a Shun lover, despite the negative publicity alot of people give them). My main concern is that I don't have any knife guards or sayas laying around that will fit that blade I don't think. And there's no way I'm leaving that blade unprotected in my bag as the elastic tends to not hold the knives in place very well. So my question is, is Shun including a saya with the Taiyo like they are the Blue Steels? If not, does anyone know where I could buy one or have one made?
Thanks a bunch!

...you can have the knife shipped directly to him from CKTG for rehandling.
I don't know if AdamMarr, Kalaeb, or 4Knives work direct. Hit em up via PM or at their sub-forums.

Well, that could prove difficult. I'm not supposed to know about it
I will check out that link though. Appreciate it Mel.

It doesn't have to ship direct from CKTG. You can send it out to Tim, or whomever, once you get it. It's best to send the knife to eliminate any slop in the finished product. You can send a tracing, but it's just not the way to do it.
Congratulations on your degree!

Sending it out is the best way to make it fit properly.

Just to answer my own question, it does NOT come with a saya.
You would think for $500 they would throw in some kind of blade protection. Boooo!
The knife is stupid sick though. Can't wait to stop pretending I don't know about it

Oh and thanks Mel. Been alot of hard damn work, but definitely worth it in the end. Alot of job opportunities already starting to pop up and I haven't even officially graduated yet. I seriously doubt I'll ever get to experience all the neat shit you have in your career, but who knows. Right now it's looking more and more like a retirement home job. $20 an hour plus bene's to start. I don't know of any restaurants that can compete with that. The medical field is really pushing the envelope right now.

BIDION <> You're welcome, sir, and no doubt, that's a good gig right out of school. No restaurant is going to pay that w/benefits.
