Looking for a little help in choosing a Diamond plate(s) for flattening Edge Pro sharpening stones. What grit\u diamond to use on what grit sharpening stone. Right now i only have stock EP stones to flatten. Eventually will get some GS stones and then what would be best for flatteing those in respective grits. Hope this makes sense!

I use the Shapton GS and a DMT XXC plate for flattening. It's a great combination. If my DMT ever wears out on me I'll likely get an Atoma to replace it though.

Paradox,
Do you use the DMT XXC for all grit size, or change to XC or coarse for finer grit stones. I have the Atoma's set 1x6 for the EP, they are nice!
Thanks for the reply.

I use the fullsize DMT xxc for flattening all my stones. I have not seen a need for finer grit plate on my higher grit stones. Some folks prefer it though. I have a 1x6 Atoma 140 for my EP too and I agree its really nice. I have all 4 grits of the DMT 2x6 plates mounted for the EP too and they do a great job also.
