Desol, is that directed at me?

We're assuming that this girl has the time (to learn) and can maintain very expensive Japanese knives while traveling across Europe. ? We're also assuming that the customer wants to get into the vast intricacies and characteristics of a whole bunch of different knives. Grinds, aesthetics, maintenance needs, etc, etc.

I don't think an array of custom knives would fit her needs best, considering the circumstances.

Again, was that your post directed at me, or other posts?

I can only defend my posts. ;)

I prefer to keep things on topic, so I'll leave it to your imagination. 8-)

Wow, that is weak. If you are gonna throw a stone, at least own it. LOL

I throw curve balls...and sinkers. Sometimes I throw a fastball...

I would consider that a stinker. ;)

To the OP: my post was meant to forward to your daughter a gorgeous set of knives to appreciate and use, Then an option for her to use those knives and determine for herself exactly what she wants for herself thereafter.

Some are focused solely on answering your discrete, limited question. Others are looking beyond, perhaps at greater happiness for your daughter. You decide. No right. No wrong. Only differing opinions to broaden perspectives.

Darn cell keeps dropping signal...sorry about edits

Do anyone needs 10,000 in knives? Does the end user knows other japanese knives other than Shun.

At the end it would be safer to play it with a high end Miyabi set. That would need no further explaining, and gets the point across that someone wants the best things for her.

But if he is asking here. Its because he wants the best. And that's the best. And I'm sure she is talented and would have no problem learning new things.
