A friend of mine has a knife with the above inscription on the side of the blade, which is apparently 20 - 30 yrs old. I did a quick google search and discovered that they can still be found occasionally on ebay, inexpensive knives.
What caught my attention on this blade was the "high carbon Japan no-stain steel", since this friend of mine has very little knowledge of the cutlery industry. Does anyone know the history of this particular steel? Just curious. Thanks

IIRC I saw one of those recently. Since I didn't make note of it there was nothing special about the knife. Thats all I got on them.

Probably some variant of 420 or 440. 440C if lucky.
