Is the Chosera 5000 hardness comparable to the
Shapton Pro 5000?
Or is the Shapton a better wear resistance stone?

The shapton 5k is a little harder and is splash and go. http://www.chefknivestogo.com/shpro50.html
The chosera 5k is a little better polisher, silky smooth and twice as thick and more money: http://www.chefknivestogo.com/nach50grwast.html
They're both good stones so take your pick. I learned on the chosera 5k and have a soft spot for that stone.

Yeah, Shapton is harder by a noticeable margin.

Almost at the complete opposite side of the spectrum. The 5k pro is very hard, one of the hardest Pro stones and the 5k Chocera is one of the softest of the Chocera series which are overall a softer series than the Shapton Pro stones. Again both high quality stones. The Nubatama 5k Bamboo is inbetween, a bit closer to the Chocera and the Suehiro Rika 5k even closer to the Chocera 5k in softness. The 5k Pro is the most wear resistant but thinnest of these stones, but any of these stones will last you quite a while.

I have heard a few mention the chosera 5k being soft and find that to be not very true. The chosera 5k is one of the hardest stones in the chosera line next to the 10k.
