We have a massive amount of Edge Pro products so we figured it would be good to have a whole section on how to use the machine and what to use on it.

Re: Chosera stone crack

The only stones I've ever had crack were my GlassStones: 1 was dropped on hard tile and broke (user error), and the other has a couple of hairlines in it from being left in a car, but is still perfect for use and I love it.

The cool part is, the stone I dropped was a 16k. Now I have half of the stone, but use it as my nagura. I purchased a 15k pro to remedy the problem, so now I lap my 8k and 15k with a 16k. :D

Disagree - a 2 minute soak time is way too little - give it 10 at least.

I have had my full Chosera set including the 8k Snow white for years, soaking it for sometimes 4 hours while re profiling hard knives - have not had a single problem to date.

When done sharpening, I lap and dry my stones and stow them away with a double folded paper towel folded across them....

The stones should not be permitted to dry too rapidly either.

I def agree that the 2 minute soaktime isnt good, just a precaution I take.I am curious if Naniwa is cutting these from the full size stones and some are somehow getting stressed and end up with fractures invisible to the naked eye?

I have ep stones in Imanishi,Arashiyama,Sigma Power, and a plethora of stones from boride and congress and have never had any problems with them.
