Looking for a stone to use in between a Shapton Pro 2K and the Suehiro Rika 5K.

I know that above jump is probably "just fine"...however if I skip one of them, I want something that will still do the job of the Shap2K or the Rika5K for the most part in terms of leaving a good finish after using a 1K stone (Shapton Pro or Naniwa SS).

I was considering the Nubatama Bamboo 3K but don't want to spend over $200 on this stone as I will likely not be using it very often.

Thanks for any ideas / feedback!

Don't have the Shapton 3k, but the Chosera 3k is my favorite Chosera (along with the 1k Hulk). Very nice stone imo, but it won't match the polish of a 5k stone.

On what steels? The bamboo 3k between those two stones is overkill (Yes I'm a Nubatama snob). I would consider the Meara stone for this for something leaning more towards the 5k (and beyond) and an aoto (various mines and prices) for a somewhat coarser finish with a nice level of 'tooth'. Also consider the 4k Bamboo here.
