Cheap Naturals and Kasumi

Thu Jun 07, 2012 2:07 am

Hey how come nobody ever talks about the quality of the Kasumi left behind by the various sub-$100 jnats on CKTG?

Anyone got any pictures?

Any specific ones :)

I have one from another place that works good on stainless but its a very hard stone and not so much to my liking, plus its my only one. I like muddy stones too and as you probably know descriptions are usually brief and not too telling on the stones working style.

I just use my finishers on the edge itself, haven't tried to get any good Kasumi shots from them yet. The finisher I got from CKTG works nicely as a finishing stone on the edges and leave a nice toothy edge. I don't really care about the Kasumi finish, so I haven't tried it yet for that.

Yes Eamon, you should give that stone a try brutha, you should like it. Bad to the bone on white and blue. :D

I used it on a Tanaka Nakiri in Blue #2 and it took a seriously sick edge. It was that smooth sticky sharp feeling, but had lots of bite to it to cut hanging paper towels. Great on Carbon and works well on AEB-L and CPM 154, but just takes longer.

A customer actually sent me that after he used the stone on his knife.

I would like to learn how to take these shots but I have no clue. If someone wants to tell me I'll try it.
