No kidding. When I got to train the rookies at work, they would be on their phones constantly, texting non stop. Finally had to tell them to put them away if they couldn't tell me what I had just told them about the building we were going thru. The phones went into their pockets. You are at work and should be paying attention to what you are doing, not chatting/texting your friends 24/7.

Keep a pot of soapy water nearby...first text, you get to try to make a basket with the phone in the soapy water...that will teach them!

Garde Manger & Sautee are the culprits in my world, I call them the Bookends. On slower evenings I won't repeat a call out, if I don't get a "Heard" or an echo.
When a server comes up looking for a Crudo or a Veal, they get all pissy, "I didn't know you pulled that ticket."
I usually respond with "Maybe if I sent you a txt, that plate woulda been up in the window."
The best part is, I'm not friends with anyone I work with, on FB.
My hands are slightly cuffed with the phone issue but I handle it professionally and cheeky because my perks far exceed and outweigh the Bookends' perks.

I was at the DMV the other day waiting to renew my license. There were probably 30 people there and at least 25 were looking at their phone.

I had always hoped to see someones phone go in the fryer as my chef had threatend, but he never did and the majority of the crew now abuse cell privileges. Losers.

Most of us are pretty good where I work, the servers are the main culprits along with managers.

What annoys me more is people who go on smoke breaks 30 minutes after they arrived.

I use my phone all the time at work. Never for a social call though. Cross reference recipies, custom timers for our recipies, we even have an ipad to place orders with our supplier(s). Best of all the head chef lets me nerd out on kitchen knives and equipment.

That's pretty awesome atang.

We always have a problem with running out of the smaller items like cilantro and honey as they only go into two dishes each.
