I guess you could call this a small gyuto, or a petty knife
The blade length is 180MM. It's stainless steel, has a laminated chestnut handle, V shaped on the bottom, with a full tang showing on top.
If anyone can read the Kanji characters, that would help.
There are 2 lines of text in the small rectangle area
The bottom line says "stainless steel" No idea what the top line says.

What I think the Kanji says is 'in connection or style of Mino." Mino is a city in Gifu prefecture, a region known for making knives. I think the text in the box say "Swedish Steel stainless."

I didn't reply to your original post because I couldn't identify this knife. :(

Hey McKemaus
That is a huge help!
Swedish stainless is good steel from what I have learned so far.
Knowing the knife is from Gifu Prefecture helps too.
I have a list of Japanese knife makers according to prefecture, now I have a place to
start.
Many thanks,
Bob Rossi

Here is one company from my list located in Mino-shi

Takeuchi Hamono Co.

So at least I have a place to start

That was a part of the problem. It doesn't suggest it is definitely from Mino. It just suggest that it is 'connected' or 'related' to Mino. It could be from there...just not sure.
