Bringing It All Together

Sun Dec 09, 2012 2:28 am

I am new to sharpening and have been watching a lot of videos from a lot of different people, mostly from this sight. I was looking through some older post in this forum and came across this video and it pulled a lot of the varying info together for me. Thought I'd post it again in hopes to help the next newbe coming up behind me.

I find the video very, very introductory. Almost funny to see it's possible to sharpen a Global without specific deburring. More serious videos can be found with Ken Schwartz, Mark Richmond and Jon Broida.

Well maybe it is. Maybe I found it helpful because of the amount of information I had(or hadn't) already taken in.

Mino was the guy that gave me my first lesson on sharpening. He's a real nice guy. He's the one that told me to strop on denim. He said "take your blue jeans and pull them tight and go back and forth like this" as he made a long stropping motion in the air to demonstrate. :) It works too!
