Birthday present help

Thu Jan 16, 2014 1:18 am

So, my birthday is coming up. I really don't have any idea what I would ask for. I can't seem to decide, in fact I'm perfectly happy with just having a nice dinner at home however the rents want to purchase me a gift.

I'm not really in need of any knives, but if it's something unique and special that you wouldn't buy for yourself that's exactly what I want!
Can be practically anything culinary.

Thinking around $100 tops, I don't want them spending more than that.

If you can't answer this question but feel the need to post. What meal would you enjoy to cook or have cooked for you on your personal birthday?

I had this same dilemma, up until last week, what with not knowing what I wanted for Christmas, and an upcoming significant birthday.

FedEx dropped a Tanaka Sekiso 300mm Yanagiba into my hands this very morning, so that problem has been solved in a rather spectacular fashion.

Good luck with yours! :D

I can think of a few things that would be good gifts. Off the top of my head how about a pasta machine, a nice sake set, or stainless plating chopsticks. I can think of some more ideas, these are just off the top of my head. Oh, a traditional tea set.

Got a pasta machine last year xD I don't usually do enough detail work for the chopsticks but maybe a nice plating spoon

I thought of the spoon as well, that would be a good inexpensive gift. Mark has some on the site that look just like gray kunz spoons. One more add on item that I always forget to add to my order.

Jeff, that would probably top $100. :)

Here is a knife you might not need, but would be nice to have around.

Plus, using a knife like this feels good with the pace of home cooking.

If it's a non-cutlery culinary item, a nice bourbon and an appropriate glass to drink it out of could suffice.

I am not so much interested in the meal I have on my birthday because they are usually good no matter what, but when someone bakes you a cake, that is the best!
