We have a massive amount of Edge Pro products so we figured it would be good to have a whole section on how to use the machine and what to use on it.

Atoma 140

Hello all you knifenuts, I have an Edge Pro Professional with all the stock stones. I am not loving the lower grit stone 120 & 220. I am considering the Atoma 140. How well does it cut? Is it better than the stock stones? Is it a must? Any better suggestions? Thanks

The difference between the EP 120 and the Atoma 140 is like the difference between the cutting ability of a butter knife and that of a nuclear pumped laser.

Beware that the Atoma 140 brings its own issue, a deep but uniform scratch pattern. The Bamboo 150 takes care of that. Or just try the Bamboo 150 by itself as it is a very competent and aggressive stone.

Thanks TDS. I will take a look into that stone also.

The Atoma 140 is exceptional, I'm one of the few that happens to like the EP 220 and it does a nice job as a follow up to the 140. The Bamboo 150 as Rick indicates does a better job but if you don't have it the EP 220 will suffice. I am on my 6th 220 stone so I have experience with it. The bottom line is that both the Atoma 140 and Bamboo 150 are proven performers.

i was just about to ask nearly that same,

I have the shapton glass set from 220-16k (minus 6K)

would the 140 really help me with chips and repro-filing and such ? the glass 220 is fast on ZDP but would like to move faster getting on with the progression

when i profile some time i just try to line up each side o the knives so they are even

also do the EP pro stone fit the apex?
