Re: anything to do with a warped blade?

The amount of wear on the blade, and the likelyhood of replacement, played a role in my considering the return option ... its not just the warpage. However, if you think they'll simply straighten it, rather than replace it, then I suppose its not worth the long downtime to send it off.

No, Henckels would not straighten it and return it. They'd simply replace it. A company like that would never take a chance like that.

I'll probably send it off then ... if I recall, it cost 80ish when I got it 10+ years ago, and it'd probably cost 120ish to buy new today. Given that I've gotten enough use for the bolster to begin crowding the edge, a free replacement seems worth the downtime, and would help stave off the costly temptation to upgrade to a left-handed yanagi.

go on, go on get the left-handed yanagi . . . you will need something during the 6-8 weeks it takes to get your other one back. And what happens if they don't replace it? You will be that much farther behind . . . you know you want it!
