Anyone have a suggestion for this customer?

Tue Aug 07, 2012 3:35 pm

Dear Chef Knives to go,

Well I have worn out yet another of my favorite cutting boards which is an 18’ X 24’ X 3/4” hard rock maple cutting board. I buy real rubber toilet seat bumpers and screw them on to the bottom of the board and it makes a really nice non slip cutting surface big enough for everything I do. I can not find anyone making them any more. Do you have any ideas? I used to get them at the hardware store for around $45.00 but they no longer carry them.

There are toilet seat bumpers available at lots of places?? As for a board, Lone Start Artisans makes some really nice boards!

A google search for rubber toilet seat bumpers gets lots of suggestions. Amazon has a few too but this one is pretty reasonably priced:

Good luck.

Welcome dude - but stop being lazy - do some research my man - posting here is free, so is Google search....??????
$45 I reckon is way to much to pay for something meant under you A*s to use under a cutting board which you can get decent enough for virtually less with rubber feet........??????

:)

I have rubber cutting board feet with stainless steel screws I can send for $5 + postage. Unless he is just determined to spend $45 on toilet rubber...

Am I missing something here? Forty five dollars for some pieces of rubber from the hardware store seems absurdly expensive. Is he actually asking about a cutting board?

Shepherd Hardware item #9131 available at Home Depot for $2.99 each for a pack of 4 rubber bumpers and 4 plated screws. This is what all the garage cutting builders use.

What the heck is a "garage cutting builder"?

Maybe it's the guys who do the boards in their garage, ie those that don't have a full shop setup?

Maybe he meant $4 or $5 dollars????????

I just use a rubber matt or even a towel.....never liked the feet/ than your board is no longer reversible.
