Adding stones to my Kings

Tue Jun 26, 2012 12:17 am

Hello Mark,

I am looking to purchase a few more stones to supplement my sharpening at home. Currently I have a King 800 grit and 4000 grit stone and need more of a mid and high grit range for my knives. Do you have any recommendations for stones? I am planning to order the Tojiro Professionals 2 pc set, and have the CCK 1303 cleaver currently. Thanks for your time.

Erin

Hi Erin,

Do you mind if I post our correspondence on my new forum? I'll take off your last name. It will help others that are looking for recommendations. You're welcome to come over and chat with us. Here is the forum:

If I were building around the 2 stones you have, my first recommendation would be the 5000 Suehiro Rika.

My next choice would be Beston 500.

My final choice if you want to keep going would be the Green Brick:

Hello Mark,

Yes please feel free to post the correspondence. Thank you for the suggestions. As the Green Brick is currently out of stock, are there any alternatives you might recommend for other midrange stones? Thanks again.

Erin

The Green Brick will be back in stock on Monday. Another good one in that range is the Chosera 2K.

I say Rika 5000 as well, and an Idahone rod.

One of my sous chefs has the Rika 5000 awesome stone, really cuts fast for a 5000, big too for the price.
