A recently completed 150mm petty.
Devin Thomas Stainless Damascus blade
Hybrid "D" shaped handle from California Buckeye burl with copper ferrule.
Handle constructed with mortise and tenon type mechanical connection for strength. The copper ferrule has a nipple of sorts on it that fits within the wood body. The bond is tight enough that I was able to shape the handle dry fit that way I could get the copper kind of hot without ruining the epoxy bond. Then when everything was done, I glued it up and then it was just finish sanding/polishing. I love having a milling machine.

Dang, that ferrule is something else. This is probably the first copper ferrule I have seen...and I love it.

Wow, is that ferrule solid copper??? That is cool!! How much weight does it add??

Yeah, it's solid except in so much as there is a slot cut in it for the tang.
It did add weight that you could feel, but it felt very nice IMHO. It was fairly thin for a ferrule and balanced nicely.
