There are many natural and synthetic stones that fallin this range. What are you sharpening and what stones etc fo you already have?

I would say green brick for general sharpening and blue Aoto for single bevels.

Well there's three Nubatama stones @ 2k - the black ume, speckled ume and the bamboo - each optimized for different applications. The 2k speckled is ideal for most uses. The black ume is softer optimized for single bevels and uneven surfaces. The bamboo is ideal for use with natural stone finishes. There's also 1500 grit and 3k Nubatamas if you want something a bit finer or coarser.

There's also Shapton Pro and Glass stones, Naniwa superstones, choceras and the green brick. There's the synthetic aoto and a range of natural aotos, Monzen, Aono aoto and several less well known aoto like Saiechi, Kozaki, Wachi, etc. Other natural stones in this range include various Nakado such as Igarashi, Binsui, Ebisu, Tajima, and other Nakado.

Let me know a bit more about what you are looking for and I can help narrow it down a bit.

Specifically the green brick is similar to the 2k superstone. The synthetic aoto has had reports of fracturing so it is a bit more risky of a purchase. Neither stone is similar to Natural stone aoto stones and the terms are marketing terms only.

I really enjoy natural aotos. Some of the rarer ones are really nice to use, but fairly hard to get. I do have a few.
